Towson University Pre-orientation programs are optional experiences designed to help new students transition smoothly into college life by fostering early connections, engagement, and a sense of belonging. Through immersive experiences and exclusive opportunities to engage with campus and community leaders, participants gain valuable insights, develop new skills, and begin forming lasting friendships.

For 2026, students can explore one of two focus areas—Community Engagement or Leadership Development—while building meaningful relationships with peers, faculty, and staff.

Pre-Orientation programs take place on Thursday, August 20 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.
Participation in Pre-Orientation programs does not conflict with any required Welcome to TU programs for incoming students. We will coordinate with housing to ensure participants move-in date is Wednesday, August 19.

There are limited spots for each Pre-Orientation Program.
Participants will receive confirmation of their registration and expected participation within three to five business days of form submission.
Once all spots are filled, additional registrations received will automatically be placed on a waiting list.
Submitting a registration form does not guarantee a spot in Pre-Orientation.

There are two distinct Pre-Orientation options for 2026.

Connect TU focuses on fostering social change by introducing first-year and transfer students to community engagement opportunities on campus and in the local area. Students will participate in an interactive session, followed by engaging in hands-on projects with local community partners. Through this experience, students will have the opportunity to build lasting relationships with their peers and surrounding Towson communities. This pre-orientation will be facilitated by the Office for Social Impact. Click here to learn more.

Lead@TU Kickstarts your leadership journey before classes begin!
This dynamic pre-orientation program empowers incoming first-year and transfer students to explore their leadership style, build core skills like collaboration and communication, and prepare for meaningful change. Incorporating personal reflection, hands-on activities, and shared learning, you’ll connect with peers and campus leaders while discovering what leadership means at Towson University and to you. Participants of this program are also invited to two additional activities during the move-in weekend. This pre-orientation will be facilitated by the Office of Student Activities
